The Ragdoll breed was started in the 1960’s by Ann Baker. Ragdolls are very smart, loving, playful beautiful animals. They are called Ragdolls or sometimes floppy cats because they tend to go limp in your arms. They are sometimes called Puppy Cats because they will follow you around like a dog, they can be taught to talk to you, do tricks, most love to have their tummy rubbed. They love to be around their human family.
Ragdolls have blue eyes, bunny soft hair, they shed very little in comparison to most long haired cats. Grooming is minimal.
Ragdolls are a large breed. The females usually weigh between 10 – 15 pounds and the males at least 5 pounds heavier.
Those on the waiting list are welcome to visit with our Ragdolls. This is by appointment only. Kittens may have visitiors (please do not come if you are sick, you could expose our kittens) at arould 8 weeks of age. They will have had their first round of shots.
The kittens are litter box trained and taught to use scratching posts.
If you are thinking of declawing your kitten, please be informed of the procedure used to declaw a kitten. It is like amputation up to the first knuckle. We do not recommend declawing. We trim their nails every two weeks and we have had no problems.
Our kittens do not leave our home until they are between 12 – 16 weeks of age. They will have all their shots, worming, routine monthly flea protection and will have been altered.
Our kittens and female cats have the run of the house. It is so fun to watch their little personalities develop. Our males each have their own rooms fully furnished with Drinkwell Platinum fountains, premium dry food out 24/7, chairs, large scratching post, litter box, cat furniture, towers, their own hair brush and comb, nail trimmers and lots of toys.
We are responsible breeders and strongly believe in early spay or neuter. All of our pet kittens will be altered before leaving our home. This is included in the price of the kitten, along with all age appropiate shots, worming, and flea protection.
All of our breeders have been tested by UC Davis for color and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy also known as HCM. We are pleased to tell you that we are an HCM free cattery. Our breeding cats have also been tested and certified negative for FIV/ FeLV. We are also a closed cattery. We do not allow our males to be used by anyone else.
We ask that you keep the kitten on the same food and water that we use for the first two weeks. After that you may begin to slowly change over to the food of your choice. This will give the kitten time to adjust to its new home. Changing food can sometime cause the kitten to get sick. When you have decided on a kitten, we will email you things that the kitten is used to.
We do not recommend for your cat to be allowed outside. Ragdolls are a very friendly and trusting breed. They may not realize danger until it is too late. Ragdoll kittens should not be taken to a Pet Store or allowed outside. This will void our health guarantee.
If you contact us about one of our kittens, we may ask you some questions about you and your family. This will help us to get to know you and what you are looking for in a kitten. Some information that would be helpful is: approximate age, married, children and ages, if you work long hours or are away from home for long periods of time.
If you decide on one of our kittens, we ask that you put down a deposit of $150. for pet kitten. This is a non refundable deposit but it can be transferred to another kitten. We do reserve the right to screen buyers. If you use Paypal, please add 4%. The deposit is applied to the price of the kitten. The remaining balance will be due in cash at delivery/ pick up of the kitten. We cannot hold a kitten without a deposit. Kittens are sold to the families on the waiting list (with a deposit) first and if there are any remaining kittens then they will be offered to the public for adoption.
You will be asked to sign a contract. This protects the buyer, seller and the kitten.
Our health guarantee states that we guarantee the kitten to be in good health for the first 72 hours after purchase. It also states that all of our breeding cats are all tested and certified negative for FIV/FeLV and kitten is also negative at time of delivery. Graceful Dolls also guarantees the kitten has had all age appropiate shots, been tested and or treated for worms and routine monthly flea protection.
